Paul Johnson’s ceramic Disc editions are individually cast and fired works that explore ideas of the overlooked. Johnson’s exhibition Teardrop Centre looks at the studio as a site or possible new universe, using everything from the walls, to the floor and the debris that inhabits this space as materials to rework into new sculptures.
“These ceramic coffee cup lid casts transform into curious symbols that have the appearance of an ancient object. The artworks are casted clay, kiln fired and then two types of glazes have been used to create at first an appearance of fragility of drying clay and then a metallic glaze to achieve an almost futuristic manufactured reality.” - Paul Johnson
The edition has been especially produced on the occasion of Paul Johnson’s exhibition Teardrop Centre (6 April – 18 June 2017).
