Hannah Collins was born in 1956 in London. She studied at the Slade School of Fine Art from 1974 to 1978. Her solo exhibitions include: Sprengel Museum, Hannover, 2015; Obra Social ‘la Caixa’, Barcelona and Madrid, 2008-09; Vox, Centre de l’Image Contemporaine, Monreal, 2004; Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Malaga, 2004; Peer Foundation, London, 2003; Leo Castelli Gallery, New York, 2000; Chisenhale Gallery, London, Cornerhouse, Manchester, Contemporary Art Centre, Glasgow, 1996; Walker Art Centre, Minneapolis, 1989; Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, 1989; Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, 1988; Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, 1987. Her work is held in public collections including: Centre Pompidou, Paris; Dallas Museum of Art; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Tate, London; Walker Art Centre, Minneapolis. Collins represented Great Britain in the 3rd Istanbul Biennial, 1992, was nominated for the Turner Prize, 1993 and was awarded the Spectrum International Prize for Photography, Stiftung Niedersachsen, 2015.
