About the artist

Lex Franchi (1994) lives and works in London. Graduated in 2016 from Central Saint Martins with a BA and completed a MFA Sculpture at the Slade School of Art in 2022. Franchi’s sculptures, reveal links between the reproductive organs of the female body and lunar cosmology. She creates sculptural tools that visualises patterns and cycles of the human body in relation to patterns in nature and how art can bring to light these under-researched connections. Made in wood, metal, laser-cut materials and hand painted drawings, her works enable the audience to interact with them, tracking their own menstrual cycles by the guidance of the moon.

Recent group exhibitions include: 'A Tavola Con Rochester Square' at the Museo della Ceramica Savona 2023-24, 'Touch Me Baby' at The Bomb Factory 2022, 'MacArthur Park' at Cromwell Place 2022, 'MFA Degree Show' Slade School of Art 2022,  'London Grads Now' at Saatchi Gallery 2020.

About the work
"Moonclock is a sculpture and a tool to help a person get in touch with their body by
tracing patterns in their menstrual cycle in accordance with the lunar cycle.
Using the coloured sticks, the Moonclock can predict when a person is most likely to feel happy, angry, sad and so on - embracing theses ups, downs and to welcome the fact that we are part of a much greater connected whole." Lex Franchi
