Aaron McPeake, Ringing Bowls, 2015
Bronze singing bowl with wooden striker
Series of four
Each bowl signed by the artist
Created in 2015 to mark Camden Art Centre’s 50th anniversary, Aaron McPeake’s Ringing Bowls explore the relationship between sculpture, sound and touch. Each bronze bowl can be activated using its accompanying wooden striker, producing resonant tones and vibrations that transform the work into a multisensory experience.
McPeake’s practice investigates the sensory possibilities of sculpture, inviting audiences to engage with artworks beyond the purely visual. Combining sculptural form with sound and physical interaction, Ringing Bowls reflects his ongoing interest in the relationship between material, perception and experience.
The bowls were created as part of Camden Art Centre’s 50th anniversary celebrations in 2015. Read more about the project on Camden Art Centre’s anniversary archive page.
