About the work
Short Circuit, 2015 is made from a photovoltaic cell with soldered coloured wires. Its title comes from the positive being connected to the negative leading to a short circuit. This piece draws from Mirza's series of Solar Symphony; solar powered sculptures and wall based works that generate electronic audio compositions and LED lighting displays, the power and intensity of which are partly governed by the amount of natural light they are exposed to. Short Circuit, however, will never generate enough solar power.
