This edition has been produced on the occasion of Nat Faulkner exhibition Strong water at Camden Art Centre, 15 January 2026/22 March 2026.

About the work

In an expansion of the artist’s interest in image making, for this Artist Edition Faulker has employed the process of frottage to produce an uncanny ‘image’ of the point of entry into his studio. The studio is a salient site in Faulkner’s practice – even referring to it as a ‘co-collaborator’ in his work.

The texture of the fixture has been individually transferred onto sheets of copper through the process of rubbing to produce eight similar but unique pieces. Each individual frottage has then been further transformed though a process of electroplating; coating them with a thin layer of silver salvaged from the waste products of NHS X-ray labs.

Each edition is mounted in a bespoke Perspex frame, slowing their continued transformation through the process of tarnishing as a result of exposure to the latent humidity in the environment.
